Fastiv

Fastiv, known in Ukrainian as Фастів, is situated in the Kyiv Oblast of central Ukraine. Historically referred to as Khvastiv, it serves as the administrative center of the Fastiv urban hromada. Despite this, it does not administratively belong to the Fastiv Raion, which it oversees.

The first recorded mention of Fastiv dates back to 1390 in old Rus' chronicles, where it was noted that Prince of Kyiv Vladimir Olgerdovich granted it to the Rozhanovsky princes. Throughout its history, Fastiv has been a site of various uprisings, including the Cossack movement in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Koliyivshchyna uprising in the late 18th century. The city was ceded to the Russian Empire in 1793 and has been a witness to significant events, such as the signing of the Unification Act between the Ukrainian People's Republic and the West Ukrainian People's Republic on December 1, 1918.

Fastiv's economy is diverse, with key sectors including industry, transportation, and trade. The city is home to various industrial enterprises producing goods such as chemical equipment, furniture, and food products. Notable companies include 'Univest Marketing' LLC and 'Elopak'. The establishment of the 'FastIndustry' industrial park highlights the city's commitment to economic development.

Fastiv is a crucial transport hub, featuring a major railway station that connects to various destinations, including Kyiv and Zhytomyr. The city's strategic location along important European highways enhances its logistical capabilities. Fastiv also hosts the FLK-Invest LLC logistics complex, which provides comprehensive logistics services.

Fastiv actively engages in international relations, fostering partnerships with twin cities such as Wałcz County and Tomaszów Lubelski in Poland, and Odunpazarı in Turkey. The city is involved in several international initiatives aimed at promoting local democracy and economic growth, collaborating with organizations like UNICEF and the United Nations Development Program.
