Olga Kurylenko

Olga Kostyantynivna Kurylenko was born on 14 November 1979 in Berdyansk, a port city located in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast of the Ukrainian SSR within the Soviet Union. Her father, Konstantin Kurylenko, is of Ukrainian descent, while her mother, Marina Alyabusheva, is an art teacher and exhibited artist. Following her parents' divorce when Kurylenko was three, she lived in a modest home with her maternal grandparents and relatives, having limited contact with her father.

Kurylenko began her career in modeling at the age of 15 in Moscow, subsequently moving to Paris at 16. In 1996, she signed with the Madison modeling agency in Paris, where she gained prominence by appearing on the covers of Vogue and Elle magazines by the age of 18. During her modeling career, she supported her mother in Ukraine and became the face of several brands, including Bebe and Clarins.

Transitioning to acting, Kurylenko made her film debut in The Ring Finger (2005) and gained recognition in the action thriller Hitman (2007). Her portrayal of Bond girl Camille Montes in Quantum of Solace (2008) marked a significant milestone in her career. Following this success, she starred in various films, including To the Wonder (2012), Oblivion (2013), and the political satire The Death of Stalin (2017).

Kurylenko's Ukrainian roots are a significant aspect of her identity. She was suggested to have a street named after her in Berdyansk in early 2008, reflecting her connection to her birthplace. Additionally, she met Ukraine's First Lady Kateryna Yushchenko at the family country house of President Victor Yushchenko, further highlighting her ties to Ukrainian culture and society.

In 2001, Kurylenko acquired French citizenship, citing practical reasons for easier travel. She has been married twice, first to French fashion photographer Cedric van Mol from 2000 to 2004, and then to American entrepreneur Damian Gabrielle in 2006, with whom she divorced the following year. Kurylenko moved to London in 2009 and has a son with her former partner, English actor and writer Max Benitz.
